From the many comments received the course was also a clear "winner". It was in fantastic condition and John Watson and his team's contribution to the day cannot be overstated. Even people coming in with an NR were commenting on the quality of the course. Not a bad thing to see Downfield through "visitors eyes" from time to time to fully appreciate how good it really is.
Word of thanks (again) to John Booth, Jack Clinton, Bob Ferrier and David Livie without whom these events would simply not be possible.
Bob Donaldson, Ian Dick and Dave Doyle provided additional support at the busiest of times but more importantly did so on the basis of asking "is there anything I can do to help" and that makes a huge difference in trying to run these events. Sometimes "nobody asked me" is a convenient place to hide and knowing who is willing to help is vitally important.
The Ladies section (principally Vie Henderson and Rhona Whittet) organised and ran a "magic square" and raffle during the day which has added in excess of £500 to the club's funds.
Finally thanks to the Office, Proshop, Bar and Catering for providing all of the services needed for all of the players to enjoy the day to the full. The impression was certainly very positive and we have some quite large groups who travel to play in our Open and will almost certainly see them all here again next year.
