Pat Garland was the lucky winner of Norma Smith's painting of the 14th hole at Downfield very appropriately named, "Spring Returns to Downfield". This beautiful scene was painted and donated by Norma Smith to help raise funds for the club. Pat very generously gave the painting to Ryan, Downfield's new chef who was thrilled to receive it. Norma also donated 5 prints for the runners up who were: Bob Carver, Jackie Ogg, Jenifer Watson, Alison Almond and David Stark.
Captain v Vice Captain Competition
Although the weather could have been better, it didn't appear to dampen the spirits of 80+ members who played today, Saturday 26th March. The final result was a draw ,11.5 points to each team. Well done to everyone who played and good luck to all for the coming season, especially our new captain, Bill Barclay. Many thanks to our retired captain Bob Ferrier who put in many, many hours to keep the club running smoothly.
Personal Golf Buggies
There is a bit of confusion reference the club's stance on the use of personal ride on buggies.
By law these cannot be banned from the course if the course is open to other members.
Our policy states" From time to time the Green Keeping staff may recommend that buggies are not used due to the state of the course, or the weather is such that safety on, or the condition of the course may be unacceptably compromised if a ride-on buggy is used. "
We would ask in such circumstances that buggy users would adhere to the recommendation.
Please check the Web Site or contact the Pro's Shop as to the status of the course.
The Committee has formulated the following regulation to come into effect immediately.
"Any member wishing to use a personal buggy must apply for
permission from the Committee in writing and adhere to the
Club’s Golf Buggy Policy."
This regulation will be put forward for adoption by the members at the A.G.M.
